Aotea was the name given to one of the canoes of the great migration to Aotearoa in about 1350 A.D, Aotearoa being the Maori name for the land of the long white cloud. This wine is made by Margaret Harvey, British Master of Wine. Tom Stevenson in the current "Sotheby's Wine Encyclopaedia" considers the Aotea Sauvignon Blanc to be the best produced in the Nelson area.
